Toyota Connected Services delivers greater functionality

Toyota has expanded the availability and functionality of its advanced Toyota Connected Services1 (TCS) technology, delivering greater peace of mind and enhanced convenience to even more customers.
The new TCS convenience features are now available on the all-new LandCruiser 300 Series, HiLux, Fortuner, Yaris Cross, Camry, Granvia, and HiAce. All the new features and functionality have been developed and extensively tested for each specific model.
Toyota Connected Services, which offers safety features including automatic collision notification2 (ACN), SOS emergency call3, and stolen vehicle tracking4 (SVT) was first introduced in the Yaris Cross in November 2020, with Camry gaining the advanced technology in April last year.
The updated system that is now available across a broader range of vehicles adds to the safety features. Customers will be able to remotely access a variety of information from their smartphone such as fuel level, recent trip data and vehicle location, depending on the model, via the myToyota Connect app5.
Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley said the expansion of Toyota Connected Services demonstrated Toyota’s commitment to delivering the very latest advanced technologies to as many customers as possible.
“The launch of Toyota Connected Services in Australia saw us able to provide our customers in the small SUV segment with advanced connected safety features,” Mr Hanley said.
“This expansion into more vehicles is another step in harnessing advanced connected technologies that not only help to deliver safer vehicles, but an enhanced ownership experience,” he said.
From a safety perspective, TCS can automatically generate an emergency call2 to a 24/7 Toyota emergency call centre and relay the location of the vehicle, in the event of a collision requiring intervention or where an airbag is deployed.
Emergency assistance can also be manually requested by a vehicle occupant via an SOS button3, while if the vehicle is reported stolen, the system can assist authorities to help track the vehicle’s location through the stolen vehicle tracking (SVT)4 function.
In addition to these safety and security functions, the updated system adds convenience functionality with specific features applied to different models.
Through the myToyota Connect app, owners will be able to, depending on the model, remotely check a variety of vehicle status information including odometer, fuel level, remaining range6 and vehicle location.
Depending on the model, TCS can also provide information on the status7 of doors, lights, windows, and keys and provide push notifications8if the owner has left the lights on, forgotten to lock the car, or close the windows.
Trip data, such as time and distance travelled, as well as a “drive pulse”9 that measures acceleration, braking and cornering speeds to provide drivers with a score and help them improve their driving efficiency10, are also available on some models.
Another handy feature for vehicles that have multiple drivers is the ability for owners to remotely set particular limits for each driver such as speed, location or time and receive notifications8 if these parameters are breached or the engine is started.
Existing Camry and Yaris Cross owners with the current iteration of Toyota Connected Services, along with owners of new HiLux, Fortuner, LandCruiser 300, Granvia and HiAce vehicles built from 1 July, 2021, can now download the latest version of myToyota Connect app available for Apple iPhone®11 and Android™12 smartphones, to access the new functionality.
Buyers of eligible vehicles will be treated to three years of complimentary TCS functionality from the date of delivery, after which an extension will be optional.
