The all-new Yaris hybrid will be Toyota Australia’s most fuel-efficient car when it goes on sale in May.
With a new 1.5-litre hybrid powertrain available in Yaris for the first time, the hybrid variants will offer an astounding official combined fuel consumption figure of just 3.3l/100km1.
Toyota Australia Vice President Sales and Marketing Sean Hanley said the addition of the hybrid drivetrain to the Yaris range would not only benefit customers with lower fuel bills, it was also further evidence of Toyota’s overall intention to continue to reduce the environmental footprint of its vehicles.
“The all-new Toyota Yaris is a marked step up from the current car in every respect and will deliver the outstanding fuel efficiency and advanced safety technology that our customers demand,” Mr Hanley said.
“It will also offer a substantially more engaging drive, superb comfort and refinement and the sort of contemporary styling to make it truly stand out in the crowd,” he said.
Together with the high level of safety features that will include the most advanced pre-collision safety system in the Toyota range and active cruise control, the new Yaris will also provide a more dynamic driving experience thanks to its all-new Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform.
With the imminent arrival of the all-new Yaris, Toyota has rationalised its lineup and will discontinue sales of the Prius c hatch – first launched here in 2012 – in the second quarter of 2020.
The Prius c was the second variant in Toyota’s hybrid Prius range and further extended the appeal, helping to cement the ever-increasing demand for hybrid vehicles, now available in eight different Toyota model lines including Corolla hatch and sedan, Camry, RAV4, and C-HR.
Prius and the wagon variant Prius v will continue as part of the Toyota lineup ensuring the company’s original hybrid nameplate lives on.
